I feel the fragmentation and linearity of the modern city with layers of depth when I was in New York, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. This feeling is transformed into elements, with a pure special arrangement with structural gaps for growth and survival. Beyond the fragmentation boundary is the struggle for survival and freedom, revealing the purity of the mutual reliance for growth between human and species. We focus more on the space with concrete and the fragmentation from human behaviors. We are established and demolished with the same speed, while the species, which we ignore, are growing tenaciously in the rigid space with concrete.

Yi Zhu is inspired by the totem and pottery culture of ancient China, along with the papercutting techniques in the Han Dynasty of China. He utilizes deconstruction and reconstruction to create a new relationship among colors, with the perception of expansion and contraction of life.
The creation of emotion from Yi Zhu is to awake the sense of life, empathy and love.
Our emotions are created because of the society, family, people, species and the disturbances of environment. Yi Zhu creates the subjective perception on the canvas with the objective perception outside of the canvas.

Distortion in culture is the perception of us regarding the disrespect of humanity toward nature.
I have always thought the exploit of materiality is a way of abuse in humanity. In fact, species in nature is also exploiting humanity through ways of survival and occupation of our bodies.
The creations by artists are a disrespectful intrusion.
I absorb thoughts and feelings through the exploited in life for inspiration.
The pointing of the sharp objects can be symbolized as the immersion of creatures. The symbol of sharp objects can create a sense of intrusion in desire.
Color to me is an unspoken war. It intrudes, exploits, destroys and creates. Perhaps, it is not the world that is divided. It is the way of artists perceiving the world that is divided. Humanity and nature intrude disrespectfully into each other, and mutually control each other, which forms a culture distortion.
This culture distortion exists in the desires of humanity, and it exists in our divided yet integrated visuals.
In my world of deconstruction and reconstruction, the constructing basis of the visual language is the perception of the living desire. It is a revelation and a sublimation of spirituality from materiality.

We always want to get away from structured logic and fixed space. It is the way of life. We break through the hinderance to red. The contraction and expansion of red is there and we cannot ignore the desire of life in red.
